Child Care Health Consultants
Child care providers are entrusted with young children for hours every day. While providing early education services, they must also keep children safe and protected from injuries and potentially serious infectious diseases. Child care staff also work with parents to promote good social, emotional and physical health for children—all generally without benefit of medical expertise.
Child Care Health Consultants (CCHCs) are experts in child health available to support child care providers to assure that children in their care are safe, healthy and ready to succeed. They also provide advice on the well being of a single child, with the view toward training child care staff to prevent and intervene appropriately in future occurrences.
First Things First is providing Child Care Health Consultation to child care providers throughout the state of Arizona. All programs enrolled in Quality First benefit from the services and in many First Things First Regional Partnership Council areas, the service is available to all child care providers.
Services are delivered via local agencies such as the county health department, cooperative extension office or Indian Health Services office.
